WFUMB Welcome Message 2023
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It gives us a great pleasure to invite you to the World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (WFUMB) 2023 Congress which will be held on November 4-7, 2023 in Muscat, Oman.
Occurring every 2 years, it is one of the most important events of the year for the international community of medical ultrasound, designed for multi-disciplinary professionals, both those specializing in ultrasound and those with a more general clinical interest who want to be updated on developments in the field. Leading international experts as well as young researchers will present and discuss the latest developments in medical ultrasound. Major topics include latest advances in elastography, portable ultrasound, innovations such as artificial intelligence, 3D/4D, interventions and contrast agents, among others. New this year: a dedicated International Contrast Ultrasound Society (ICUS) session.
This is the ultrasound meeting to find answers, learn and network. The scientific program is, naturally, the focus but social activities and the reunion with friends from all over the world are an essential part of the congress.
Oman is a land of rich history and fascinating culture that dates back well over 5000 years, think Sinbad, the Queen of Sheba, frankincense and more. In fact, Oman is the site of pre-historic human habitation, stretching back over 100,000 years! Muscat, the capital city, was named the best city to visit in the world by the travel guide publisher Lonely Planet in 2012. It has many places that blend ancient and modern with souks selling silver and gold artefacts, frankincense, metalworking, textiles and pottery, in the same way as has been customary for thousands of years. The Omani people have a reputation for being amongst the world’s most hospitable and we hope you will join us to enjoy the country and the people, in addition to the superb scientific program that is being prepared.
